Urgent question, please

SOLVED

How much time does a computer "remember" the answers of a worksheet previously done on it?

Here is the situation:

Last year, in July, I taught a group of 5th graders and I assigned some topworksheets to be done individually at school (one computer per student).

This year, I'm teaching another group of 5th graders and I want to assign the same topworksheets. They will do them individually, one notebook per student. They don't share the devices.

But my question is if the notebook will remember the answers of the students from last year.

If this is case, what are my possibilities?

1) I want to clarify that each student has a different Google profile. They won't use the Google profile of a student from last year. Is this important? Or it doesn't matter?

2) If the computer will still remember previous answers, then my only option is to disallow the possibility of correcting previous answers, right? The thing is that the kids from this year will have only one chance, and I would like them to have the possibility to correct their mistakes....

I hope I've been clear!!!

Thank you for your time!!!

Hi Maria Laura,

We'll try to explain how it works and address all your doubts.

First of all, once the worksheet has been submitted, the previously saved answers are removed. Also, if you assign the same worksheet to different groups, the assigned tasks are different for each group. That means if you used a different group last year than the one you are using this year, this should not be an issue.

Even if you use the same group and the same tasks, answers in closed, Google Classroom, and Microsoft Teams groups only last 15 days without activity. If the student doesn't access the task within 15 days, the stored answers will be removed.

The last possibility is using the same group and the same tasks with an open group where students will use the same devices as last year's students. In this case, if the computer is not formatted from one year to another, it could happen that some students see previously submitted answers. This depends on the operating system configuration for clearing cookies and user data.

We hope we have explained the issue correctly and resolved your doubts. If not, please let us know.

Kind regards,

Thank you so much, Christian!!

Yes, you've resolved my doubts!

Here is the part that's worked for me:

"if you assign the same worksheet to different groups, the assigned tasks are different for each group. That means if you used a different group last year than the one you are using this year, this should not be an issue."

I've assigned the same worksheet to 2 different groups (each group has a different link of the same worksheet) and these groups are different from the ones I used last year. So, I shouldn't have any problems, if I understand correctly.

Thanks again. Have a great day!
